‘To bloom
Freezing my tears in winter
To retrieve them on your body
In order to see you bloom again in spring’
“ECLORE” reveals itself in musical, photographic, and dance forms. In a cinematic screenshot, the piece traces the evolution of a body in bloom in search of its breath within an aquatic and vegetal nature.
The body moves in pursuit of its own memories, attempting to escape from its past in order to bloom anew.

The conceptualization of the music was entirely thought out before its capture in images. The choreography and the score were composed simultaneously in reaction to each other. After several attempts and abandoned options, a first version was finalized. Once the film was edited and finalized, the entire composition was reworked to better align with the cinematic aesthetic and not just with the choreography and costume. The music is ambiguous, sometimes dark, sometimes bright, aggressive yet fragile. It is never very clear which element of the orchestration is foreground or background - the different instruments alternate their roles in turn. Comprising sounds from the dancer, acoustic and electronic instruments, realistic and surrealistic sound design, the score attempts to structure the whole in an organic and unified flow.
A special thank you to Audréanne Fillion and her incredible cello playing, and to Lydia Beaulière for her gorgeous vocals.
